Meet the Team

Karen always wanted to join a choir but never got the opportunity growing up in Zimbabwe, surrounded by so many talented singers who could sing more than just six notes. She had to settle instead for being the stage curtain operator. This was the beginning of her journey supporting amazing singers. After moving to Canada to complete her Bachelor of Arts in History, Karen came to St Andrews University to do a degree in Museum Studies, where she met her husband, moved to Glasgow, and raised her three kids. Her youngest joined the GYC in 2018. Karen has served as the GYC secretary since 2020, and  took on the role of Chairperson in 2025.
